SUMMARY:“Anchors Course Outdoors!”  2 day course with On The Rocks
DESCRIPTION:This course is for confident indoor top-ropers to learn to go climbing outdoors independently. The indoor clinic can cover gear and anchor materials\, knots etc.\, and so on\, and is provided by an On The Rocks guide. On The Rocks will provide climbing equipment for teaching and the outdoor portion. \nThis course is designed specifically for confident indoor top-ropers who are looking to transition into outdoor climbing and gain the skills necessary to climb independently in natural environments. Throughout the course\, participants will learn how to apply their indoor climbing knowledge to the outdoors\, with a focus on safety\, technique\, and gear handling. \nThe indoor clinic will serve as an introduction to essential outdoor climbing gear\, anchor materials\, and critical knots. Topics covered include the different types of climbing ropes\, harnesses\, carabiners\, belay devices\, and how to properly set up anchors using natural and artificial protection methods. Participants will also receive hands-on practice with tying essential knots such as the figure-eight\, double fisherman’s knot\, and prusik\, ensuring that they have the skills needed to safely manage their own climbing setups. \nThe course will be led by a certified On The Rocks guide\, a professional with extensive outdoor climbing experience who will provide expert instruction\, support\, and safety guidance. On The Rocks will also supply all the necessary climbing equipment for the duration of the course\, including ropes\, harnesses\, helmets\, and belay devices\, ensuring that participants can focus on learning without worrying about gear. \nOnce the indoor clinic is completed\, participants will head outdoors to practice what they’ve learned in a real-world climbing setting. This outdoor portion will cover topics like route finding\, weather considerations\, risk management\, and proper communication with a climbing partner. It will also offer practical experience in building and testing anchors\, setting up top-rope systems\, and managing rope work. With the support of their instructor\, students will build the confidence and practical knowledge they need to climb independently in outdoor settings. \nBy the end of the course\, participants will not only be familiar with the technical aspects of outdoor climbing\, but they will also feel empowered to safely and confidently plan\, prepare for\, and execute outdoor climbing trips on their own or with climbing partners. \nFri April 25th 630pm-830pm Indoors at Boulderz Climbing Centre\, Etobicoke \nAND \nSunday April 27th 9am-5pm Outdoors at Rattlesnake Point Conservation Area\, Milton (Participants need to sign waivers with On The Rocks\, and are responsible for transport to and from Rattlesnake Point\, and that there is a gate fee for Rattlesnake Point.) \n$250+HST per participant \n$225+HST Boulderz GOLD Members \nRegister Now
